This band stays far beyond perfection, including cover art, lyrics, merch and philosophy. Riffs are immensely captivating and headbanging, yet mysterious. Vocals are convincing, eerie and charismatic. Imposing bass and drums... Every aspect is vital and grubs your entire self into such an obscure, fairy-evil atmosphere. Not my favourite CDG's album, cause "Coven" exists, but it is the most precise illustration of what Cultes des Ghoules are about.

If not my favorite, this is probably the best and most classic-sounding Cultes des Ghoules album. Every track is just monstrous and, honestly, pretty fucking scary. After this is the jumping off point for some. I'm a huge fan of the subsequent releases and the challenging aspects that come along with them (especially the insanely batshit "Coven"), but there is no denying the impact "Henbane" makes after listening. Pure black metal evil.
Favorite track: Idylls of the Chosen Damned.

I am not even sure where to begin with an album like Roads To The North. Although probably not intended as such, I always got the feel of something like "Western Metal". But regardless, the drums and riffs are unique, and each have just a sound and feel that I can't quite describe. This is absolutely an album that you just need to hear in order to understand. Roads To The North is an absolute gem.

For those of us in the Laurentian Mixed Forest Zone, autumn is certainly the most beautiful, if also the most harrowingly brief of the seasons; cool, crisp climate, glorious crimson and gold, tempered by variegated and, eventually, rapidly dwindling light, it is bracing, invigorating, but inevitably tinged with melancholy and nostalgia. Darkness falls; another year ends. This album captures all this, as if in amber, for posterity. Eternally.
